Although it is rare, we do live in a place where it occasionally snows. This picture was taken just around the corner from my house:

Snow in the desert is strangely beautiful. We had a couple inches drop in our town yesterday. I'm sorry to say its all gone today.

The Saga Begins

Can you remember back to kindergarten? I can. One of the first realities of life I had was learning I was colorblind:

So I can’t see the stupid numbers in the diagram. What doe that matter? At least I had perfect vision.

Over the years, I learned just how unique my eyes were. While in grade school, I learned I had a condition known as alternating exotropia. What this basically means is I saw out of on eye at a time.

At least I had perfect vision ... until ...

Sometime in 2000 I got a promotion. Along with that promotion I was sentenced to life behind a computer monitor. Over the next couple years, my vision started to go. Still no big deal, they got glasses for that.

Something strange was happening though. My left eye was becoming far sighted while my right eye was becoming extremely near sighted. At first the eye doctors thought my left eye had one some sort of “exotropia battle”. Basically, since I did not use my right eye anyway, what did it matter? Correct the left eye and move on.

Until ….

My latest eye appointment the doctor noticed something. My “bad” eye appeared to have a cone shaped cornea. This is a sign of something called Kerataconous.

Basically, I went for more tests and found out I need a cornea transplant in my right eye.

Rock on ... I love getting old ...
